Kit Harington, though, has been over the moon about getting a chance to play Gilderoy Lockhart in 'Harry Potter'
When Kit Harington voiced Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter audiobooks for Audible, he may not have had an iota of idea that he could one day play him on screen.
However, that has become a reality.
He shared his reaction to the update in an interview with Collider, saying, “Yeah, you’re the first person I’m talking to about this."
Being a die-hard Potterhead, Harington said, "It just got released. I’m thrilled. I’ve said a million times, for anyone who cares, that I’m a huge Potter fan. I’ve got to be honest, he’s one of my favorite characters.
"So, to be offered to play him is a real dream. I think he’s going to be so fun," he shared.
But portraying a character that the Emmy-nominated actor previously played may help.
Not quite, said the British actor.
He said he will not merely copy what he did in the audiobooks.
"You said, I got to play him in the audiobooks," he said, adding, "That’s not the exact way I’ll play him in the show because it’s an audiobook."
"But I’ve had a taste of him and felt my way around him. He’s just a wonderful creation.”
Previously, Nicholas Hoult was playing the flamboyant professor, which Kenneth Branagh once did in the films, but now in the series, Harington replaced him for season two of the Harry Potter series, whose season one will arrive on Dec 25.
