Diablo heading to Netflix in animated series

For Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo is one of its hit video game franchises, and it's now bringing it to Netflix.

According to Variety, the streaming platform is developing an animated TV show.

However, no cast has been announced, no release date has been set, and no information is available on how many episodes it will have.

But Blizzard has described the project, which reads, “After decades of bringing entire universes to life through our games, we’re partnering with some creative powerhouses to tell even more stories beyond gaming across new screens."

"A new animated series set in the world of ‘Diablo’ is in development with Netflix. More details will be shared in the future, but this is only the beginning, with even more taking shape across our universes.”

Meanwhile, the Diablo franchise kicked off in 1996. In contrast, the recent fourth installment was released in 2023.

The video game series will mark its 30th anniversary this year, with the Blizzard president Johanna Faries recently saying, “BlizzCon in and of itself represents so much for all of us to be able to shine a light on all the great work going on at Blizzard."

“We have put a lot of thought into this moment, and why now, and how do we continue to capture and build on the momentum we’re experiencing as an organization?" he concluded.
