Trump says the decision was disgraceful and embarrassing in his latest flare-up
President Donald Trump on Friday said he would have won the Nobel Peace Prize and criticized the award after it went to someone else. The president who has long wished for the award was presented with the medal by last year’s recipient Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.
In a Truth Social post after his rally in Syracuse N.Y. Trump doubled down on his claim that he has settled eight Wars and said he was about to settle or win in Iran as well as ease geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
“The Nobel Prize was given today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations, who nobody has ever heard of.”
“In all of the wars that I have settled, I never spoke to the United Nations—they were of no help, he added.”
On social platform X, divided views have been shared by users with one writing, “ At this point he surely has to be trolling. It feels like we’re all in the Truman show and the Trump administration are the directors/producers.”
Second remarked, “At this pace, he may ban Noble peace prizes and make his own Peace Prize. Trump Peace Prize and award to himself.”
Third added, “ You have to earn a Nobel prize. He’s used to buying, stealing or grifting everything. He doesn’t like to hear no. He’s the last person that actually deserves one.”
Following Machado presenting Trump with her award last year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee which selects the Nobel Peace Prize recipient underlined that the prize was not officially transferred to the president.
Furthermore, the committee said in a statement that the medal diplomas are the physical symbols indicating a high honor that has been awarded by the Nobel Peace Prize committee.
