Why Princess Diana's brother wants to tell her story before Prince Harry?
Charles Spencer is all set to tell Diana's story on September 20 via his book 'Swan Song: Diana My Sister'
Princess Diana's brother Charles Spencer's decision to release a bombshell memoir about his sister reportedly came after Prince Harry announced his preparations to mark his mother's upcoming 30th death anniversary.
As per a report by RadarOnline.com, Spencer wanted to be the first person to ever release a personal account about his beloved sister.
Spencer is all set to release the memoir titled Swan Song: Diana My Sister on September 22.
In the book, Spencer will recall memories of his and Diana's childhood, their family dynamic, and how the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry became one of the most famous women in the world.
Whereas Harry is looking forward to releasing a documentary on her mother's 30th death anniversary.
"There is enormous anticipation around Charles' book, but the timing is also significant," a publishing insider told the outlet.
"Harry is planning to revisit Diana's extraordinary life for the 30th anniversary of her death next year, and Charles knows that will create enormous global interest. He has decided this is the moment to put his memories down in his own words and, in effect, get his account of Diana's life out there before Harry tells the story from a son's perspective. Effectively, he is beating Harry to the punch on this."
It is pertinent to mention that it's been 29 years since Diana's passed away in a Paris car crash.
Spencer himself revealed that he decided to write the memoir after he was approached by multiple outlets for interview given that Diana's 30th death anniversary approaching,
He aims to "tell the truth about Diana from her brother's perspective, just as I attempted to do when speaking at her funeral."
"With the 30th anniversary of Diana's tragic death on the skyline (next year), I've been inundated yet again with requests for interviews about my sister. This has convinced me to write down my own thoughts and memories, once and for all, rather than having the discomfort of again reading the opinions of others, many of which are based on untruths that have become accepted over time," he announced in a statement.
