Nancy Guthrie case: FBI urged to take control after ‘shocking’ investigation failures

After a six-month long investigation in the Nancy Guthrie case, Pima County Sheriff Department has failed to find any lead that could help find Savannah’s mom.
In the wake of failure and lack of tangible progress and breakthrough, the calls grow, urging the FBI to take over Nancy's investigation, as told by the sources privy to the matter to Page Six.
Six months after Savannah Guthrie's mother was abducted from her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson, Arizona, investigators have made zero headway, leaving those close to the case deeply “shocked and disturbed.”
One source said, “Stop the childish finger-pointing. There’s a killer on the loose. They need to focus their resources on finding that person rather than bickering.”
During the investigation, the FBI director Kash Patel accused Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos of keeping the agency out of the case for the first four days after the abduction of Nancy.
Retired FBI profiler Jim Clemente said, “The FBI does not have primary jurisdiction, they have to be invited in,” adding, “It’s ridiculous for egos to ever be involved in delaying or obfuscating an investigation. Law enforcement on all sides should have the same goal — to resolve the crime.”
Earlier this, Nanos released two ransom notes sent to the Guthrie family. The first ransom note was sent on February 2 in which the alleged kidnapper demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency, claiming Nancy was safe but scared and threatened to kill her if the ransom was not paid within 12 hours.
The second sent on February 6 alleged that Nancy died shortly after being taken, stating she is buried in nature now and ending with an apology. The purpose of releasing these notes is to find any clues in investigation.
“It would have been smart and expedient if the FBI was invited in all its entirety with its forensic team … and photographic department, which could have been immediately utilized” Clemente said.
When asked will the FBI’s taking over the case could expedite the investigation, Clemente showed optimism. He said, “it’s not fully necessary — the FBI is a resource for all the country, with behavioral analysis, violent criminal apprehension program, critical incident response group, which would have responded had they been called in.”
“There would have been a tremendous amount of assets and advice that would have benefited this investigation early on.”
Earlier this week, Savannah Guthrie made another desperate plea. She took to Instagram and pleaded, ““Six months ago, someone took her out of her bed in the dead of night. We have lived every moment, every breath, and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since.”
