Olivia Munn raves about her 'Your Friends & Neighbors' costar James Marsden

Olivia Munn is reminiscing about her meeting with James Marsden in high school, revealing the hilarious reason.

While conversing with PEOPLE magazine to promote her upcoming season of the Apple television series Your Friends & Neighbors, Munn revealed that she met her now co-star James for an ice cream when they were in a High School in Oklahoma.

The 45-year-old American actress shared that she was a great friend of James’ sister Jenny Marsden when they were growing up. She was raised in Tokyo before her return to her birthplace at the age of 16.

Before meeting Jenny at school, she admitted she had a "really difficult time meeting friends.” Both girls graduated from school in 1998, while James bid farewell to the school in 1991 after his graduation.

Calling to mind her first interaction with James, the X-MEN: APOCALYPSE star said, "When I met him, he was so impactful to me and the way I was thinking.”

“I thought, 'I'm going to lock in, and everybody else telling me that this is a lofty goal, I'm not listening. I'm going to keep going.' It's interesting because we talked about this a lot, because you never know when you're going to impact someone's life. It could be a very small moment for you, but it could be such a core memory for someone else,” she explained.

Munn went on to confess that she once had to “apologize so many time” because she went to James’ room many times with Jenny in his absence when he was in Los Angeles.

"Oh, that's new information that it actually was a recurring event," the 52-year-old American actor jokingly quipped.

It is pertinent to mention that Olivia Munn and James Marsden are playing the roles of Samantha “Sam” Levitt and Owen Ashe, respectively, in Your Friends & Neighbors.

Your Friends & Neighbors season two is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 3, 2026.
