This comes as Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King, alongside his wife Queen Camilla, is set to travel to the US in April at the invitation of the American president. This visit with mark a significant diplomatic moment, including engagements at the White House and an address to Congress.

The statement from the palace read: "On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America."

"Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence. The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory," it stated further.

Despite Prince Harry and King Charles being in the United States at the same time, the Duke of Sussex is not expected to travel from California, where he lives with his wife Meghan Markle and their children to Washington DC, where official events will take place.

Previously, Jennie Bond told Mirror, "State visits are incredibly busy. The schedule is worked out months in advance and is tightly packed with carefully curated engagements designed to enhance bilateral relations."

"There is very little downtime, and I can’t think that the King would fly across the whole country to visit Harry and his family in California," she added.
