Elon Musk has made a major claim regarding the Neuralink chip’s growing capabilities.
According to the 54-year-old billionaire, his brain-computer interface company can possibly restore the full body functionality.
Taking to X, the CEO of SpaceX posted, “I am confident at this point that restoring full body functionality is possible with Neuralink.”
This revolutionary Neuralink breakthrough focuses on the motor cortex, helping to restore full body functionality in those people suffering from severe spinal cord injury.
“Neuralink can essentially help bridge communications from the cortex, past the point in the neck or spine, where the nerves are damaged. It is quite possible from a physics standpoint to physically restore full body functionality,” the founder of Tesla said in a video.
Musk featured motor cortex technology in 2022. However, the experimentation on humans started in the previous year.
In September, the company released the data, claiming to implant the N1 device in 12 patients, helping them to control physical and digital tools.
The following breakthrough comes after Musk earlier this week announced that Neuralink company aims to enter “high-volume production” of brain-computer interface devices in 2026.
On January 1, Musk’s neurotechnology firm also unveiled major steps towards restoring vision with the help of brain implant chip Blindsight, even in those who are inherently blind.
The recent move aims to transform Neuralink from a research-focused startup into a large-scale medical manufacturer.
