King Charles’s raw honest feelings about his nieces, despite their parents current predicament with the press has just been brought forward by a well placed insider that is close to Buckingham Palace.
The source spoke to Tatler about everything and starts by admitting the obvious which is that “the monarch is fond of his nieces and doesn’t want them to suffer because of their father’s downfall.”
There are also hopes riding on the girls, and have been since before Andrew’s titles were stripped.
According to that same insider, “despite what has happened with Andrew, it’s not off the cards.”
Furthermore, even public opinion cannot sway the King’s thoughts reportedly because “whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can.”
However, one thing that the insider did make clear is that “there was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need.”
So, “for their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the King.”
As of now King Charles is said to be “testing the water” with his nieces, to see how the public reacts to them because despite them being private citizens with jobs, they also attend a few public events like the annual garden parties.
They also serve as ambassadors for a number of initiatives. For example, Princess Beatrice is an advocate for dyslexia charities whereas her sister Princess Eugenie makes many a public visit to spinal injury charities, due to her own personal struggles with scoliosis. She also serves as a mentor for the King's Foundation and joined a mentoring reception for under-35-year-olds in London in the past as well.
Hence its understood that both sisters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie “recognize there is a responsibility to support their uncle and they want to support him.”
