King Charles was in full diplomatic swing on Thursday, greeting a host of distinguished visitors at Buckingham Palace.

Iceland’s President Halla Tómasdóttir, who shook hands with the monarch during her first official UK visit, kicking off a London programme packed with leadership, sustainability, and economic development talks.

The royal family’s Instagram captured the moment, showing the President and King Charles exchanging warm greetings, while the caption noted, “This afternoon, The President of the Republic of Iceland visited The King at Buckingham Palace.”

Tómasdóttir’s London itinerary began Wednesday, and her busy schedule includes public conversations and strategic meetings highlighting Iceland’s vision for the future.

The palace day wasn’t just reserved for Reykjavik’s finest. Ambassador Dominique Paravicini also presented his credentials to King Charles, accompanied by his wife Fabienne and embassy colleagues.

The King also received the Ambassador from the Republic of Lithuania.

Meanwhile, Charles once again had to close the gates of Balmoral Castle early today, as adverse weather sweeps across Scotland. Visitors will have to wait, with the estate set to reopen at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
