Come rain or storm, Princess Anne remains focussed as she carries forward the message of King Charles in Singapore as the Princess Royal arrives for another sombre service accompanied by her husband, and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
The 75-year-old hardest working royal member of the family had just wrapped her four-day visit in Australia and headed straight to Asia.
The monarch’s sister is tasked to undertake important engagements in a bid to strengthen the ties between the UK and Singapore. As the royal couple arrived on Wednesday, they attended the memorial for at the Kranji War Cemetery.
Anne nearly avoided hindrance and delay, wrapping her programme as the dreary weather turned into pouring rain.
During the engagement, Anne, who is the president of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), laid a wreath to honour the Singaporean and British veterans followed by a minute of silence.
The service was brief and the princess then moved onto visit the MS Spey which has been deployed to the Indo-Pacific since 2021. A red carpet was laid out for the royal as she saw the maintenance work being done to the ship.
Prince Anne also presented awards to Warrant Officer James Burton and Warrant Officer Jason Proctor for their service.
The two-day visit will also see Anne commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
