Nikki Glaser made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, but her monologue, which went on for 10 minutes, upset many viewers.
The 41-year-old media personality made some controversial jokes throughout her performance, with casual mentions of heinous crimes like s-- trafficking, child abuse, and r-pe.
Glaser began, “You can go to the nail salon with a friend, but you get separated at the border. They do not let you sit next to each other. It’s so antisocial. You’re just sitting there watching Beat Bobby Flay on mute. You can’t talk to the woman doing your nails because … slavery? I don’t know! She seems stuck and sad. I don’t know.”
The Dancing With the Stars alum continued, “I think I’m just paranoid and I think I’m just obsessed with slavery recently because every time you go … to a public women’s restroom and you sit in the stall, there’s always a poster on the back of the stall that’s asking you if you’re being trafficked. They’re in every stall.”
It went on as she said, “Men’s restrooms do not have these signs. I don’t know what signs you have? You have signs that are like, ‘Want a slave? Text Traffick to 69-69.’”
Further into her monologue, Glaser joked about the new fear of trafficking among her Gen-Z friends comparing it to the common fear of r-pe which she grew up with.
Social media sleuths did not let the episode slide without criticism, as one wrote on X, “Nikki glaser Really giving me the ick on snl tonight.”
Another echoed, “Things nikki glaser managed to make into a joke on her snl open: domestic violence, racism, sa [s--ual assault], pedophilia, s-- trafficking. Do better.”
A third chimed in, condemning the jokes, “Nikki Glaser hosting nbcsnl tonight. Wow, attempting humor on r-pe & s-- trafficking…yea, no.”
One declared, “Nikki Glaser hosting #snl joking about s-- trafficking is completely tone deaf and offensive. WTF,” an X user wrote.
