King Charles is showing no signs of slowing down despite his ongoing cancer treatment.
During his trip to Caithness, Scotland, on Monday, July 28, the monarch impressed royal watchers with an unexpectedly firm handshake.
While attending a reception at Scrabster Harbour to mark milestones in the UK’s nuclear sector, Charles greeted members of the public gathered outside. Among them were David and Jacky Mackay, a couple from nearby Thurso, who were left in awe after their royal encounter.
“I remember the Queen Mother coming to Caithness and now to meet the King, I am honoured – absolutely honoured,” David told the John O’Groats Journal and Caithness Courier. “And his handshake is so strong!”
“It’s a wonderful thing for Caithness, the fact that royalty have got so much love for the county,” he added.
The event marked the 70th anniversary of the Dounreay Nuclear site, the 50th anniversary of Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited, and 20 years of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
The King toured the area, met industry staff and volunteers, and unveiled plaques at both Jubilee Pier and the Fish Market Hall.
