Kieran Culkin opened up about his mother’s major concern regarding his roles.
During the red carpet of SAG Awards the Home Alone star told the Entertainment Weekly and People magazine's representatives, "My mom used to say when I was a kid, 'How come whenever there's a script about a dysfunctional family they always come to us?'"
Offering a logical point of view, he said, "But also, what's a functional family?"
Kieran and his brother, Macauley Culkin, are known for their fair share in roles featuring dysfunctional families, ranging from comedy to drama to horror.
Kieran and Macauley played cousins in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which revolves around the unruly, extended McCallister family clan who repeatedly leave their young child, Kevin, behind.
More recently, Kieran starred in a breakout role in Succession, one the most ferocious dysfunctional family dramas, and in critically acclaimed film A Real Pain, for which he received Golden Globe and SAG Award as the Best Supporting Actor.
In the film, he plays the energetic cousin to Jessie Eisenberg’s character.
Kieran Culkin has also earned an Oscar nomination for the Best Supporting Actor in A Real Pain. The Academy Awards will take place on March 2nd.
