Veteran actor Satish Shah, best known for his iconic series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away at the age of 74 in Mumbai on Saturday.
According to CINTAA official Ashoke Pandit, the actor succumbed to kidney failure. Pandit shared the news on Instagram, writing:
'It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that our dear friend and a remarkable actor, Satish Shah, passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he breathed his last. A tremendous loss to the industry.
The heartbreaking news of the Chalte Chalte actor's passing has sparked a wave of grief among his fellow celebrities.
Taking to X formerly Twitter, comedian Johnny Lever paid a heartfelt tribute to his fellow actor.
He wrote:
'Feeling extremely sad to share that we have lost a great artist and my dearest friend of over 40 years. It's hard to believe-I had spoken to him just two days ago. Satish Bhai, you will be truly missed. Your immense contribution to film and television will never be forgotten.'
The legendary actor played number of iconic roles throughout his career infilms such as Kal Ho Naa Ho, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, and Main Hoon Na, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, and Om Shanti Om.
In 2008, he co-judged Comedy Circus alongside Archana Purana Singh and was later appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) society in 2015.
