‘Cut in flour price a great relief’

LAHORE: Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin said that there is a clear decrease in the prices of flour, fine flour and semolina across Punjab. He checked the comparative price assessments from markets across Punjab.

He said that the reduction in the prices of daily necessities has brought a great relief to the people. He said that surplus wheat is available in the province and its benefits are reaching the common man. He said that the prices of wheat products continue to decrease significantly and strict monitoring is being ensured in this regard. He said that the price of 10 kg of flour decreased by 600 to 700 rupees, while the price of 20 kg of flour decreased by an average of 1,300 rupees.

Punjab food minister said that the price of 80 kg of fine flour has decreased by Rs2,770.Similarly, the price of a 50 kg bag of semolina has been reduced by an average of Rs1,700. Bilal said that a bag of fine flour is available for Rs8,230 instead of 11,000. The food minister said that the price of a 50 kg semolina bag was reduced from Rs7,150 to Rs5,450.

He said the prices and quality of the commodities are being constantly checked in the market. Supply of affordable bread is being ensured across the province, he added. He said that the food department and the district administration are working together to ensure implementation of low prices in the province.
