LAHORE: Dr Muhammad Yousaf’s work is a significant milestone in research, culture, and civilisation, said Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. This research work is commendable and serves as a guiding light for scholars in the global south, remarked Dr. Shahid Munir.
The book “The Construction of Culture and Communication in the Global South,” edited by renowned researcher, teacher, and media scholar Professor Dr. Muhammad Yousaf Bashir, was introduced at a ceremony held here the other day.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that with this book, Dr. Yousaf Bashir has preserved the cultural history of the global south. Such research work should be thoroughly encouraged.
Prof Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, praised Dr. M Yousaf’s creative work and declared this book an important document and milestone for teachers and students in the global south.
Prof Dr. Noshina Saleem, Director of the Institute of Communication, expressed pride that the author is among her students.
Kashif Manzoor, Director General of Public Libraries, said that Professor Dr M Yousaf Bashir’s effort is commendable and can solve many problems.
Professor Dr. Zahid Bilal emphasised the need to connect with our culture and values.
The book’s editor, Dr M Yousaf, said that they have tried to summarise the knowledge generated and compiled in countries other than the West.
Mirza M Yaseen Baig mentioned that such books help in understanding the local landscape.
Other speakers included Dr Mubeena Iftikhar, who shared her journey towards a Ph.D. and mentioned that Dr M Yousaf had transformed her life.
Dr Murtaza Ashiq said that this book would serve as a reference for teachers and students in Pakistan.
