Youth Affairs Dept to conduct yoga classes for mothers

LAHORE : Introducing a healthy trend, Punjab Youth Affairs Department has decided to conduct yoga classes for parents particularly mothers accompanying their children during the upcoming summer sports camp.

Revealing more details and purpose of the initiative, Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Khokhar said that the yoga classes have been designed to keep the mothers of young camp probables busy in healthy activity during their stay at summer camps along with their children. “This initiative will also help a lot in improving the health and fitness of mothers of young camp participants besides ending their feeling of boredom during the training session of their children”.

He said that after successful holding of CM Pink Games and Summer Games, Punjab Youth Affairs Department is going to launch Summer Camps from June 25 to August 3 in all divisions of the province in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He said that the school-going children of 5 to 16 years of age can participate in the summer camps of 12 games, including athletics, archery, badminton, table tennis, hockey, football, tennis, swimming cricket, karate, taekwondo and gymnastics in Lahore. The camps of six games will be conducted in other divisions of the province.

He said that summer camps will play a key role in finding several talented male and female young athletes in different games at grassroots level. “The members of our selection committee will attend the summer camp sessions regularly to monitor and evaluate the performance of all the participants. The athletes who will be selected on the basis of their performance will be retained for further grooming and nurturing”.

Director General Youth Affairs Punjab Pervez Iqbal in this regard said that a desk has been established to submit forms for summer camps. “Apart from the registration portal, the citizens can also submit their registration forms in the office of Sports Board Punjab,” he added.

He said that Summer Sports Camps will help a lot in the promotion of sports culture across the province. “The participating children in Summer Sports Camps will be imparted best sports training under the supervision of expert coaches”.

He urged the young children to utilise all of their energies for learning of games techniques. “The young school going children must avail this opportunity to polish their sports skills and improve their fitness at the state-of-the-art facilities of Sports Board Punjab”.
