Imtiaz Ali revealed the reason behind his decision not to collaborate with Kareena Kapoor again after Jab We Met, stating, "there’s also a responsibility."
During an interview with News 18, the 52-year-old director discussed the possibility of collaborating with Kareena again after the massive success of their blockbuster film.
The Amar Singh Chamkila director revealed why such a collaboration has not materialized yet.
Discussing the possibility of a sequel to Jab We Met, Imtiaz dismissed the idea but expressed his desire to collaborate with the 43-year-old actress again.
Explaining why such collaboration hasn't occurred yet, he emphasized that when a filmmaker works with an actor, there's a responsibility to avoid doing anything solely for the sake of it.
The Rockstar director further stated that he aims to reunite only when there is a superior or entirely distinct project compared to their previous work together.
He said, “Why have a sequel to Jab We Met (laughs)? If people want to keep relishing the film, they can keep watching the first one! There has to be a story and a reason to make Jab We Met 2. But let’s see if it happens. Never say never!”
“But unless there’s a really passionate reason to make a sequel, one shouldn’t,” Imtiaz added.
