Kareena Kapoor opens up about teaching sons to respect working parents

Kareena Kapoor shared that it is important to teach children the concept of respect and equality towards their working parents.

The Bollywood diva, who is the UNICEF's National Ambassador of India, opened up about her parenting style at the UN event which took place in Delhi on Saturday.

During the conversation, Kareen said, "I feel that boys who see not just their father, but also their mothers work, have some sort of respect for the fact that I can also be busy."

She detailed, "Today they had a holiday and wanted me to be home but I told them I have to go to work. Taimur was like, 'You are always going to Delhi and Dubai for work, I want to be with you'. I told him that work is important too and I promise to come back and give you more time so that he doesn't feel neglected in any way."

The Jab We Met actress added that after seeing her work, her children will respect the fact that their father "[Abba] goes to work and comes home and the same goes for their Amma [mother]."

Speaking of her eldest son, Taimur, Kareena shared, "He understands the equality factor that both my parents are working. That somehow allows a lot of space for respect."

The actress continued, "I want him to grow up knowing that we are equals in this house."

Kareena and Saif Ali Khan tied the knot in Mumbai on October 16, 2012.

The couple shares two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.
