Kangana Ranaut referred to herself and Shah Rukh Khan as the "last generation of stars" and reacted to being asked if she had joined politics because of a perceived decline in her acting career.
Speaking at the Times Now Summit, the 37-year-old actress was questioned about whether her foray into politics was prompted by the box office failures of her recent films, on which she denied this notion, citing Shah Rukh Khan's example.
The Queen actress mentioned that Shah Rukh had also faced a rough phase in his film career before making a strong comeback with major hits like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki.
Kangana said, “There is no actor in this world who has never had a flop. Shah Rukh didn’t have a hit for 10 years, but then Pathaan worked. I did not have a hit for 7-8 years, then Queen worked."
"Again, I didn’t have a hit for 3-4 years and then Manikarnika worked. Now hopefully, Emergency is coming and I hope it works. she added.
Kangana then elaborated that achieving stardom has become increasingly challenging in the current era dominated by OTT platforms.
The Krrish 3 actress further noted that while numerous actors are being given opportunities, OTTs have yet to create stars on the same scale as traditional media.
She explained, “These days, because of OTT, actors have more opportunities to showcase their talent. We are the last generation of stars, OTT doesn’t have any stars."
"We are known faces and by the grace of God, we are very much in demand. So, it’s not like that. But like you said, I want to involve myself with the real world as opposed to just being consumed by the field of arts."
