Ranbir Kapoor believes that his film Animal started a healthy conversation about toxic masculinity in society.
For the unversed, several viewers dubbed the 2023 action crime movie 'misogynist' and called out the makers for promoting violence.
In a video shared by Netflix, which is presently streaming the movie, Ranbir can be seen justifying the storyline of his latest project.
He said, "There is a very healthy conversation that has started about toxic masculinity also, which is a great thing because cinema, at least, it starts a conversation."
Kapoor continued, "If something is wrong, if you don’t show that it is wrong, and unless conversation starts in the society, we will never realise it."
Speaking of the characters shown in the film, the Barfi actor said it is up to the audience to decide what is right and wrong.
"You can make a film on the wrong person and it should be made. Because if you don’t make a film on them, society will never improve," he stated.
However, earlier at the success party of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial, Kapoor said that the Animal's massive box office business is an answer to all the negative critiques.
He said, "It is a film that a section of people had an issue with but I feel the kind of love, success and the numbers (it has received) proves that nothing goes beyond the love for a movie. Nothing goes beyond movies."
