Delegates from different countries are going to participate in the Coordinating Council meeting of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), which is being held in here from May 17 to 18, and hosted by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT).
The meeting will be chaired by Dr. Eduardo Posada Flórez, the executive director of COMSATS Centre of Excellence, the International Centre for Physics (CIF) in Colombia.
This platform for South-South technical cooperation comprises of the Heads of twenty International S&T Centres of Excellence and meets annually at one of the Centres. Among other agenda items, the meetings will review and approve the international programmes and budget of the COMSATS Network and review activities of COMSATS’ International Thematic Research Groups (ITRGs).
The meeting delegates, who would deliberate on matters of developing world’s technical cooperation, include members of the Council from Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Senegal, Syria, Tanzania and Tunisia whereas representatives of Unesco, ICGEB, SESRIC and ECOSF will attend the meeting as observers.
