Says tele-medicine at basic health centres

LAHORE

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting, here Thursday, in which progress on Punjab Health Reforms Road Map Programme was reviewed in detail. 

The chief minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of targets fixed under Punjab Health Reforms Road Map Programme during last three months. The meeting approved Postgraduate Resident trainees (PGR) rotation policy for meeting the shortage of specialist doctors in hospitals and decided to start queue management system in five districts of Punjab.

The meeting also decided to launch tele-medicine programme in basic health centres. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that work would have to be carried out with commitment for providing best treatment facilities to the masses.

He directed that the achievement of targets fixed under the programme during next three months should be ensured at every cost. He said that best results of effective implementation of vaccination programme had come fore. He said the Punjab government had decided to start tele-medicine programme at basic health centres. He said that basic health centres would be linked through information technology.

He said that the doctor would also be able to provide treatment to the patient at other basic health centre through tele-medicine. He said that under the first phase, 120 basic health centres would be linked with tele-medicine. 

Shahbaz Sharif said that the attendance of doctors and medical staff in hospitals had improved considerably through biometric system. He said the process of improving treatment facilities through information technology should be continued. He said that we all have to work collectively with hard work for improving public health facilities.

The chief minister directed that cleanliness system of hospitals should be improved and an effective plan for strengthening management of hospitals be formulated and presented. He said that provision of free medicines to the patients should be continued on priority basis. He said the resources of billions of rupees were provided earlier for providing quality medical facilities to the people and would be provided in future as well. He said that implementation of reforms programme for uplift of health sector had yielded best results. 

Shahbaz Sharif directed that audit of functional and non-functional machinery of the hospitals should be completed at the earliest.

He said that the achievement of targets fixed for provision of best treatment facilities to the people should be top priority. He said that it had been decided to start queue management system in five districts of Punjab which would rid the patients of inconvenience of waiting. 

ransom: A Pakistani businessman residing in UK, Zahir Ahmed called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here Thursday. 

The chief minister handed over a cheque for Rs50,800,000 given as ransom for his safe return from the kidnappers and recovered through joint action by Lahore police and Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab to Pakistani businessman residing in UK Zahir Ahmed. Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the performance of Lahore police and Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab on recovery of Rs50,800,000 and appreciated Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera, CCPO Lahore Capt (R) Amin Wains, Commissioner Overseas Pakistani Commission, Punjab Afzaal Bhatti, Director General Policing Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, DIG Capt (R) Mubeen, SP CIA Umar Virk, DSP CIA Tariq Kayani and Inspector Sharjeel.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that due to timely action by Lahore police and Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab, the grievance of Pakistani businessman residing in UK Zahir Ahmed had been redressed. He said that joint action and efforts of both the institutions were commendable. He said that Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab had been constituted for resolving problems of Overseas Pakistanis. 

He said that the Commission was discharging its duties in an excellent manner with regard to resolving problems of Overseas Pakistanis. Zahir Ahmed while talking on the occasion said that setting up of Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab was not less than a blessing, on which, Overseas Pakistanis were thankful to Shahbaz Sharif. He said that he had no hope of receiving back the money but the way both the institutions had worked was commendable and he got his money back. 

Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera, CCPO Lahore Capt (R) Amin Wains, Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzaal Bhatti, Director General Policing Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab, DIG Capt. (R) Mubeen, SP CIA Umar Virk and brother of Zahir Ahmed were present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned that the amount had been received as ransom through kidnapping Zahir Ahmed. The accused had released Zahir Ahmed after receiving the amount of ransom. Zahir Ahmed got registered a complaint at the portal of Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab. Immediately after registration of the complaint, the Overseas Commission and Lahore police recovered the amount of ransom through joint action.
