Ever since the news of the new addition to Harry Potter series was announced on the Pottermore website, on Wednesday, and went viral on the social media circuit, Potter fans have been celebrating like it’s Christmas. However, fans may be disappointed to know that the eighth book, titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is set to release on July 31st, isn’t actually a novel.

The book that will be preceded by a stage play of the same title, to be staged on July 30th, is in fact a two-part script of the play itself. The author JK Rowling took to Twitter to clear any misconceptions of it being a novel of any sort. “To be clear! The script of #CursedChild is being published. #NotANovel #NotAPrequel,” she wrote.

Based on an original story by Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, and written by Thorne, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child picks off 19 years after Deathly Hallows and will see Harry as a father of three, employed at the Ministry of Magic. Both Harry and his son Albus will be seen struggling against Dark Magic. The script’s ebook will be published simultaneously with the print editions, and the decision to release the script in book form has been made in light of there being a high demand from those who won’t be in London to see the play unfold.
