Marvel Studios, having scored a massive hit in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year, is on an ambitious albeit unpredictable roll. Having restricted Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk from an appearance in the recent Captain America film, Marvel in a bid to compensate for the omission, has announced the addition of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk to the upcoming third standalone Thor film.

In addition, Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett will star in Thor: Ragnarok as a powerful villain called Hela. The film will also include Jeff Goldblum (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Jurassic Park) as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, who will essay the role of Skurge. This new cast will join Thor veterans Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Sir Anthony Hopkins in the upcoming adventure.

But that’s not the only piece of information that has fans excited.

In a recent interview with Collider, the writers of the third Avengers film - The Avengers: Infinity War – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely indicated that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange, who makes his big screen debut this November in Doctor Strange, could star in the venture.

While discussing the Marvel world, McFeely noted, “The scheduling has got to be a nightmare. You can’t just say ‘Benedict Cumberbatch’ - or whoever -  ‘come to Atlanta for nine months.’ You know. It can’t work that way.”

The film will be directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the directors of Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
