The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has finally announced the venue details and dates for the 17th edition of its annual awards function – one of the most spectacular celebrations of Indian Cinema worldwide. The travelling awards show of sorts will be held in the capital city of Madrid, Spain from June 23 to 26, this year.

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has finally announced the venue details and dates for the 17th edition of its annual awards function – one of the most spectacular celebrations of Indian Cinema worldwide. The travelling awards show of sorts will be held in the capital city of Madrid, Spain from June 23 to 26, this year.
Why Spain? Because the year 2016 marks the 60th anniversary of India & Spain’s diplomatic relations. Speaking at the press conference held in Mumbai, which was attended by the likes of Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Anil Kapoor, Mr. Raj Nayak, CEO of Colors channel commented, “We are doubly excited about IIFA this year because it’s happening in one of the most exotic destinations in the world.”
“Along with Wizcraft we have managed to put together a stellar line-up of performers comprising Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Sonakshi Sinha among many others; along with friends of IIFA like, Anil Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Parineeti Chopra, Tiger Shroff and a whole galaxy of stars who will grace this gala occasion. The night will be hosted by the multifaceted Farhan Akhtar and the very gifted, Shahid Kapoor,” he revealed.
This year, the ‘IIFA Rocks’ stage will include noted music director-composer-singer Pritam, who is performing with Spanish artistes in a unique on-stage production. Alongside the gamut of musical acts and dance performances, the distinguished Indian fashion designer Vikram Phadnis will also showcase a fashion collection to celebrate his 25 years in the fashion industry.
The IIFA revelries are well underway, as IIFA this year, will also showcase a special teaser screening of the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film – Mirziya which marks the debut of Anil Kapoor’s son Harshwardhan Kapoor. A special yoga Master class will also be conducted by Shilpa Shetty.

Recreating the magic of Indian cinema, the IIFA Celebrations will, like always, play host to some of the most celebrated stars of the Indian film industry, notable guests, and dignitaries from India and the region, world media and fans from across the globe. The guest list includes prominent personalities from the Bollywood fraternity – Sridevi, Ranveer Singh, Boney Kapoor, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Dia Mirza, Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Kabir Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Neha Dhupia, Sohail Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Madhavan to name a few.
With 17 years of celebrating Indian cinema in different parts of the world, IIFA has become one of the most credible set of awards and an important platform for strengthening the bond between Indian cinema and the West.
