SHARJAH: Bangladesh cricket star Tamim Iqbal played a superb innings scoring 80 off 58 balls to lead Peshawar Zalmi to an impressive win against Islamabad United by 7 wickets here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night.
Tamim smashed 6 fours and 3 sixes in his unbeaten innings. Mohammad Hafez made 26 and Shahid Yousuf an unbeaten 27 to help their side achieve a tough 153 run target with ease.
Mohammad Sami, Saeed Ajmal and Samuel Badree took one wicket each for the United.
Earlier, Khalid Latif scored a brilliant half-century to help Islamabad United post a challenging 152-6 against Peshawar Zalmi in the 13th encounter of inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Latif made 59 off 41 balls with 4 sixes and four while skipper Misbah-ul-Haq 32 and Sharjeel Khan 28 contributed to the team total.
Mohammad Asghar and Wahab Riaz took two wickets each while Shaun Tait and Junaid Khan shared a wicket each for Zalmi.
Peshawar Zalmi captain Shahid Afridi had won the toss and invited Islamabad United skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to bat first.
Misbah at the toss said he has not completely recovered from the calf injury but was ready to play for his team and disappointed to miss out two matches already.
