GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday vowed to grant more regional autonomy to Gilgit-Baltistan which, he said, had been neglected by the government.
“The development work that should have been done in this area by the government was instead done by Agha Khan,” he said.
“The time will come when people will long for getting employment opportunities in Hunza,” he said, adding that it was the duty of the federal government to help the people affected by the Attaabad Lake.
Criticising his political opponents, Imran said the PTI would put an end to the partnership between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, which he said was only meant to take turns to govern.
He said though a decision on the Pak-China Economic Corridor had been taken, economic zones along this route were yet to be built and the PTI would give Gilgit-Baltistan its due share in this context.
