LAHORE
THE ordeal of 1,278 affectees of the LDA Avenue-One was now over as alternative plots had been allotted to them after over 11 years on Wednesday.
Officials said the allotment was made through computerised balloting which was held under the supervision of Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahad Khan Cheema. The plots allotted were fully developed and owners could take over their possession in a day for constructing their houses without further delay, they said adding the list of these plots had been uploaded on the LDA’s website. The issue of handing over possession of 2,894 plots of the LDA Avenue-One, including 1,007 of one kanal and 1,887 of 10 marlas to their allottees, was pending due to litigation since the initiation of this housing scheme in 2003 when all the 10,983 applicants had been allotted plots in the first ever housing scheme exclusively for government employees. Director General LDA Ahad Khan Cheema took a firm decision to resolve this lingering issue and spearheaded his team for creating 1,599 extra plots on the clear area of the scheme through tireless efforts spanning over a year.
About 321 alternative plots had been allotted through the first phase of balloting held on 24th of January 2015 to those affectees whose plots had been deleted due to re-planning of the scheme. Balloting for allotting alternative plots to 2,894 affectees was held on Wednesday and 1,278 alternative plots were allotted through the second phase of the balloting.
Software for this purpose had been developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board which also conducted the balloting in the presence of a number of affectees as well as representatives of the media who also participated in the process of balloting. Additional Director General (HQ) LDA Amina Munir, Chief Town Planner Ch Muhammad Akram, Director Finance Zaheer Asghar Rana, Director Revenue Farqaleet Meer, Director Administration Khalid Parveiz, Director Estate Management Avenue-1 Nadeem Abbas Bhangu and other officers concerned were also present.
