Hashwani honoured with Belgian golden cross medal

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan Peter Claes officially presented Hashoo Group Chairman Sadruddin Hashwani with the Golden Medal of the Civil Cross First Class during an official ceremony held at the Marriott Hotel here.
The prestigious award was conferred on Hashwani for his outstanding services in the promotion of relations between Pakistan and Belgium and for his remarkable role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The festive event was attended by the elites of the city with distinguished guests from government, diplomatic and business circles as well as close friends on Monday.The prominent guests included former Foreign Ministers Sahibzada Yaqoob Khan, Gauhar Ayub Khan, Former Foreign Secretary Riaz Kokhar, Dr Shoaib Suddle, Imtiaz Sheikh. In his address, the Belgium ambassador thanked Sadaruddin Hashwani for his loyal commitment to the Kingdom of Belgium and his active support to the Embassy over the past 25 years and said that Hashwani played a vital role in strengthening relations between Pakistan and Belgium. “Sadaruddin Hashwani is a real face of Pakistan,” Peter Claes said.
In his acceptance speech, the Hashoo Group chairman said: “It is indeed a great honour for me to receive this Golden Medal of the Civil Cross First Class from Ambassador Peter Claes, which has been conferred upon me by His Majesty King Philippe, King of the Belgians.”
He said that he was proud of his 25 years of loyal association with Belgium and during all these years as he and his staff at the Honorary Consulate have been privileged to perform their duties and to serve as the Belgian Representation in Karachi. “My Office at the Honorary Consulate has always been at the service of both the Embassy and all visiting Belgian in Karachi.”
It bears remembrance that, by the decision of His Majesty King Philip, Chairman Hashoo Group Sadruddin Hashwani was appointed on 29 April 2014 to the rank of Knight-commander in the Order of Leopold II, the house order of the Belgian monarchy to reward outstanding personalities having rendered exceptional services to the Kingdom.
