ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that the government was neither constituting a judicial commission nor was rejecting it and warned if the PTI came on the streets for protest this time, it would be intolerable for the government.
He warned if the government reneged on the formation of a judicial commission, his party would stage unprecedented street protests beyond the rulers’ endurance.Speaking at a news conference here at his residence at Bani Gala, the PTI chief, however, maintained that the government had not so far declined outright to accept their demand for forming a judicial commission.
Imran appeared disturb over a report that claimed that a woman and her four children in Chiniot had been jailed and her husband, who worked as assistant manager at Ramzan Sugar Mills, which PTI chief claimed, is owned by the Sharif brothers had also gone missing.
Similarly, the mother of the married woman was also thrown out of her home in Lahore. He alleged this all was done on the orders of ‘prince’ Salman Shahbaz. “Whatever mistake, if any, Muhammad Ali, the spouse of the woman had made, under what Pakistani law, his wife and four children have been jailed and the old woman in Lahore thrown out of her home by the police?” he asked.
Imran charged that Muhammad Ali was still missing. He alleged the Sharifs were the product of dictatorship and this was what they had learnt and had demonstrated it throughout. He recalled how during the election campaign, the Sharifs had claimed to have enough experience of running a government and that the PTI was inexperienced. “Is this the experience of their governance?” he asked.
Imran said because of the monarchy of the Sharifs, they had named their sit-in ‘Azadi sit-in’, for people here were slaves. When they did not have the fundamental right of removing or installing a government on the basis of their vote, all other rights automatically stood compromised, he noted.
“We are a slave nation, whereas in the West even animals enjoy rights and here the common man can’t have the right to vote as per his liking,” he maintained. He proposed to the government to have trust in the judiciary and let judges investigate the rigging allegations in the 2013 elections through a judicial commission under Article 218 of the Constitution.
Imran wondered why the government was afraid of a probe into the last polls if it had won through a fair and transparent manner. The PTI chief warned that once they realised that the government would in no way form the commission, they would again come out on the roads and this time their protest would be unprecedented.
About the resignation of Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Imran said the governor had paid the the price of speaking the truth when he exposed the deep-rooted corruption mafia.
Imran wanted to know how Husain Nawaz, son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, had amassed so much wealth. He charged that the PML-N deliberately allowed the PPP to indulge in corruption and in turn now the PPP was letting PML-N government to do the same with Pakistan.
He alleged the Sharifs had turned the entire Punjab into a police state, charging the rulers only knew how to run their monarchy and had no interest to serve the masses and resolve their problems.
Imran regretted that real democracy never took roots in Pakistan as families of a few continued to rule Pakistan turn by turn to loot the nation. The PTI chairman went on to allege that the rulers were using the Punjab Police to victimise their political opponents. In this context, he referred to alleged firing of PML-N goons on his Faisalabad rally. Imran wondered who would give justice to a Pakistani, the slain PTI activist Haq Nawaz.
He announced that they would approach the Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday for day to day hearing of cases pending with the election tribunals. Imran also wanted judgment in the NA-122 petition on the basis of daily hearing.Replying to questions, Imran contended that the stance of (party leader) Hamid Khan had nothing to do with PTI’s position on the establishment of military courts.
