Alarming levels of smog could add to an already burdened healthcare system

It is that time of the year when most cities of the world experience smog, or high ozone levels. Technically, it’s about a concentration of two major air pollutants — PM 2.5 and PM 10 — exceeding safe limits.

Whereas most cities only record “unhealthy levels” of smog, when it comes to Lahore, the situation gets alarming. As the air quality worsens, it can trigger infections of throat, eyes and lungs, and especially hit the asthmatic. All of which can add to an already burdened (thanks to the pandemic) healthcare system. Are the related government departments and authorities  listening?
