PAT survey supports death to the corrupt

LAHORE
Majority of people supported death sentence to those found guilty of corruption, says a Pakistan Awami Tehreek survey here Tuesday.According to a PAT press release on Tuesday, the survey conducted with over 100,000 Pakistanis in the country and overseas on the topic ‘Life imprisonment or death sentence for corruption,’ also recommended that NAB cases be handed over to Rangers and all cases that Rangers unearthed be tried in military courts for elimination of corruption.
According to the survey, 92 percent people were in favour of death sentence to those guilty of corruption while 8 percent suggested life imprisonment until poverty and unemployment were eliminated from the country and plundered wealth was recovered to pay off country’s foreign loans.
To the question “Has the NAB or Rangers worked better for the elimination of corruption?,” 99 percent said Rangers were a million times better than NAB. To the third question “Are civil courts better than military courts for punishing terrorists and extremists?”, 96 percent said military courts were a million times better.
The participants supported that all the holdings of politicians and bureaucrats should be probed thoroughly for ascertaining the sources of wealth. They suggested that previous electricity and telephone bills should be seen and asked from where they had been paying the bills. They said that all the people who owned luxury homes and flats should also be asked how they purchased these homes and bungalows. All the assets of bureaucrats before they joined the government offices should be compared with what they have at present. Likewise politicians should be asked what they had before becoming parliamentarians and what all they own now.
