Ahad, Huzaifa, Umair reach Singapore Junior Squash pre-quarters
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Abdul Ahad, Huzaifa Shahid and Umair Arif reached the pre-quarterfinals of Singapore Junior Squash Open in Singapore on Tuesday.
In the second round of under-11 category, Abdul Ahad beat Ethan Ming-Rui Kuan of Singapore 14-12, 11-8, 11-6. Huzaifa defeated Ali H S Al-Khalaf of Qatar 11-2, 11-2, 11-8, while Umair thrashed Eishin Arita of Japan 11-1, 11-2, 11-2. Abdul Ahad is to face top seed Jayden Oon of Malaysia, Huzaifa will be up against Haiqal Hazim Syarudin of Malaysia, and Umair is drawn against second seed Yeak Wei Sim of Malaysia in the pre-quarters. In the first round of under-15 category, Kumail Tariq was beaten by Azim Khairul of Malaysia 10-12, 3-11, 3-11. This AJSS Gold Event is the last junior event of the year for Pakistani players.
