ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Husain said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries. The President stated on Friday that Pakistan and Jordan enjoy close and brotherly relations, which were rooted in common faith, culture and history.
The President was talking to Ambassador-designate to Jordan Lt Gen (retd) Shafaatullah Shah, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President felicitated the ambassador-designate on his new assignment and hoped that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Jordan would reach new heights during his tenure. The President stated that Pakistan was keen to enhance its relations with Jordan in all fields of mutual interest, particularly in defence. He emphasized the need to enhance the volume of trade to realize true trade potential between the two countries.
In this regard business delegation exchanges could be effective, he observed. The President advised the envoy- designate to project Pakistan’s image as a moderate, progressive, responsible and development-oriented country. The President wished the Ambassador-designate success in his new assignment.
