Plea dismissed
The LHC on Thursday turned down a plea seeking early hearing of a petition challenging former army chief Pervez Musharraf as party head.
Justice Shahid Karim passed the order on petition moved by Advocate Muhammad Afaq. He had submitted that Pervez Musharraf did not qualify to be head of any political party and he should be removed from the office.
Notice: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices to federal government on a petition questioning appointment of Kashmala Tariq as Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplaces.
Rahmat Qureshi of Insaf Lawyers Forum had moved the petition, raising questions on appointment of Kashmala Tariq. He said the criteria for a person’s appointment as Federal Ombudsperson was the same as it was the appointment of a person as judge of the high court.
