Woman dies under mysterious circumstances

LAHORE

A young woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Iqbal Town on Monday.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy and started investigations. A police official said they had received a call from a hospital that the victim (K), who was admitted by a suspect Ali, had died. They reached the spot, collected forensic evidences and recorded statements of eye-witnesses.

The victim was admitted to the hospital by Ali, a resident of 417- Huma Block. They also informed the family of the victim who lived in Gulshan-e-Ravi.

Investigations Incharge Muhammad Siddique said that the victim had marks of strangulation. He said that further investigations and autopsy would ascertain the cause of her death. He said that they were waiting for an application from the family for registration of an FIR. He said that the suspect was at large and police were searching for him. 

accidents: At least 781 road accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 10 lives were lost and 667 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of districts. However, some 289 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after first aid by emergency medical teams.

According to the data, 381 drivers, 18 underage drivers, 110 pedestrians and 475 passengers were among the victims of the crashes. The statistics show 149 accidents were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 161 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 71 in Faisalabad with 83 victims and Multan with 53 accidents and 57 victims.

Details further show that total 966 victims were affected by the accidents including 749 males and 217 females, while the age group of the victims show that 134 were under 18 year of age, 586 were between 18 and 40 years and the rest of the 246 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 606 motorbikes, 118 rickshaws, 97 cars, 49 vans, 12 buses, 15 trucks and 100 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the accidents.

Security: Capital City Police Officer Lahore M Amin Wains said that the overall law and order situation is better in the city.

 "Gutless stabs of terrorists can never dent our valour. Sacrifice of martyrs for peace and prosperity will never go in vain. Their martyrdom is a source of astuteness for us. The courage of my officers and me is at peak. Security is put on high alert on entry and exit points of the city," he said while chairing a meeting on the law and order situation at his office.

The CCPO said citizens should keep information about residents in their surroundings. "The coward enemy can never confront the ambition of highly motivated people. The destination for terrorists and their facilitators is perdition. Police can never win the fight against terrorists without the cooperation of the public," he added.

DIG Investigations Ch. Sultan, DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, SSP Admin Rana Ayaz Saleem, SSP Investigation Ghulam Mubashir Mekon, SP CIA Tariq Mastoui, SP HQRs Atif Nazir and all SPs of the Operation and Investigation Wings participated.

The CCPO directed the DIG Operations to continue search operations on a daily basis and aggressively implement the Leasing Act on citizens.
