KP govt allocates Rs1bn to New Peshawar Valley Expressway project

PESHAWAR: In a significant move to bolster infrastructure development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has allocated Rs1 billion in the provincial budget for the construction of an approach road to the New Peshawar Valley (NPV) project.

Another Rs2 billion has been released for the Ring Road missing link from Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh Road. The provincial budget will be presented in the provincial assembly on Thursday (today), in which billions of rupees will be allocated for various development projects in Peshawar.

Mahmood Aslam Wazir, Secretary Housing KP, told this correspondent that 9.5-km of the NPV Expressway has already been demarcated, with land acquisition and verification processes nearing completion. The newly allocated funds for the approach road aim to enhance access to the project site, linking it to major highways and facilitating future development.

He said this decision underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity and accelerating progress on the mega housing initiative. The secretary said that the land use area has been expanded from 40 percent to 55 percent, incorporating enhanced green spaces, and health and education facilities. The right of way main road has been reduced from 800 feet to 400 feet to optimise land utilisation. Over 33,000 kanals of land have been shared with NPV, with possession secured in key areas like Urmar Mera and Ghari Faizullah.

Mahmood Aslam said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s New Peshawar Valley (NPV) project, an ambitious endeavour spanning 106,400 kanals, is poised to redefine housing in the region with an unprecedented offering of 111,630 residential plots.

The numbers tell a story of careful planning and inclusivity. Nearly 28,000 modest 3-marla plots will provide affordable housing options, while over 35,000 slightly larger 5-marla plots cater to growing families. For those seeking more space, the project includes 11,414 elegant 7-marla and 21,712 spacious 10-marla plots. The premium offerings — 11,801 sprawling 1-kanal properties, 2,102 luxurious 2-kanal plots, and 1,028 exclusive 4-kanal farmhouses — complete a spectrum of housing choices designed to accommodate every segment of society.

The KPHA has implemented robust systems for citizen feedback, online applications via the ‘Dastak App’, and a complaints redressal portal to ensure transparency and public participation.

“With the Rs1 billion allocation for the approach road, the KP government aims to address logistical challenges and pave the way for timely project completion,” he said.
