Land dispute: PTI MNA’s sister alleges political interference, demands justice
CHARSADDA: Nadia Gulzar, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Shandana Gulzar, on Friday accused high-ranking officials and a sitting member of the National Assembly of interfering in a personal land dispute that recently turned violent.
Addressing a press conference here, Nadia claimed that her former husband, Adam Ali Khan, refused to transfer 82 kanals of land granted to her as mehr (dower) despite court rulings in her favour following their divorce three years ago.
Nadia stated that she legally sold the land to Afzal Bashir Umarzai, son of former MPA and ANP district president Shakeel Bashir Umarzai. However, she added, that when Afzal and his associates went to take possession of the land, they were allegedly attacked by Adam Ali Khan and his men, resulting in the deaths of two of Afzal’s close companions.
Nadia revealed that she has also been named in the FIR under alleged pressure from key officials, including Mardan Regional Police Officer and Charsadda’s PTI MNA Fazal Muhammad Khan.
“At the time of the incident, I was at my residence in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave. Yet, I’ve been wrongly implicated, accused of instigating Afzal to open fire on Adam and his men,” she added.
She alleged that Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Mahsud, who is reportedly a business partner of her former husband, has been manipulating her revenue cases and abusing his position against her for years. Speaking on the occasion, ANP district president Shakeel Umarzai backed Nadia’s claims. He asserted that the land was thoroughly vetted through legal channels before purchase and was part of Nadia’s mehr.
Both Nadia Gulzar and the Umarzai family called on the chief justice of the PHC to take immediate notice of the case and ensure justice is served impartially.
