PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has reserved a verdict on a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheikh Waqas Akram seeking details of cases registered against him.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Waqar Ahmad heard the petition.During the proceedings, Sheikh Waqas Akram’s counsels, Arshad Nowsheravi, Basheer Khan Wazir, and Malik Samiullah, informed the court that cases had been registered against their client, but he was unaware of the details. They requested the court to direct the relevant authorities to provide information regarding the cases.

Justice Waqar Ahmad inquired why the petitioner was not approaching the courts in his province. The counsel responded that Sheikh Waqas Akram was currently residing in Abbottabad with his family and had filed this petition specifically to obtain case details.

They added that the National Accountability Bureau and Islamabad Police had also been made respondents in the petition, and information about cases in this province was also being sought. Justice Waqar Ahmad remarked that time would be granted to the petitioner to appear before the relevant courts. He noted that the petitioner should approach the respective courts if the cases were in Punjab and Sindh, and not in this province (KP).

Justice Waqar Ahmad said the court could only summon case details related to its jurisdictionHe assured that protective bail would be granted to allow the petitioner to appear before the concerned courts.

Advocate Basheer Wazir then told the court that they were not being heard in other provinces. In response, the judge said that it was their constitutional right to be heard and that they should approach the respective high courts. The bench adjourned the hearing and said that an order would be issued in the matter.
