Over 11,000 illegal residents deported
LAHORE:Punjab Police have deported over 11,000 foreign nationals, including Afghans, residing illegally in Lahore and other parts of the province.
IG Punjab stated that 11,879 individuals were shifted to holding centres during the ongoing campaign, while 763 remain at these facilities. According to the police spokesperson, five holding centres have been set up in Lahore and 46 across the province to manage the process.
12 arrested in 432 combing operations
To ensure peaceful Easter celebrations, Punjab Police intensified intelligence-based search, sweep, and combing operations across the province. In the past 24 hours, 432 combing operations were conducted, with 14,857 individuals checked and 50 suspects detained. Additionally, 43 search and sweep operations led to the interrogation of 1,968 people and arrest of 12 suspects. Police also apprehended 228 proclaimed offenders, 132 court absconders, and 57 habitual criminals. Illegal weapons and ammunition were recovered. One criminal was killed and five injured during the crackdown.
Two held over livestock theft
Police have arrested two persons on charges of cattle theft. Gujjarpura investigation police recovered nine buffaloes, three cows, their calves, and a loader rickshaw—collectively valued at Rs5.5 million. The accused Habibullah and his accomplice Ahmed used the rickshaw to swiftly load and transport stolen livestock from various areas.
