Palm Sunday marked with prayers and peace messages
BUREWALA: Christians across Vehari district observed the Palm Sunday with religious devotion and reverence.Special prayer services were organised in churches where the participants carried palm branches and joined peace walks. In Burewala, a vibrant Palm Sunday procession was held at St Peter’s Catholic Church where the Christian community marked the occasion with great enthusiasm. Reverend Father Javed Khurshid led the procession and addressed the participants, saying that Jesus Christ was the true King of Peace. “Despite being a king, Jesus chose to ride a donkey instead of a horse or an elephant, demonstrating his message of peace over war,” he said.
He urged the people to let go of conflict and embrace one another with love to create a world of harmony and safety.A large number of community members participated in the event, including Babu Irfan Munawar, Shamoon Ghulam, Haroon John, Master Sardar, Asif Mehmood, Khurram Samuel, Aman Shehzad, and Atif Talba Nawaz.
In Vehari, various churches organised special services. The children performed special hymns and prayers were offered for global peace, especially for the people of Palestine. Pastor Salman Kelvin stated that Jesus Christ always preached love and peace while Pastor Mumtaz Sawan highlighted Palm Sunday’s message of forgiveness, reconciliation and unity. Religious leaders encouraged the followers to work for brotherhood and peaceful coexistence. Special prayers were also offered for peace and stability in Pakistan.
