MANSEHRA: The officials of the Upper Kohistan district administration claimed to have successfully reached snowbound areas on Friday and administered anti-polio drops to a total of 34,296 children across the district.

“The snowbound parts of the district have also been covered during the ongoing drive and administered polio drops to as many as 681, out of 763 children in snow-capped parts,” Deputy Commissioner Upper Kohistan Tariq Ali Khan told reporters.

He said the ongoing polio vaccination drive, which began on February 3 and will conclude on February 8, including a catch-up day, has successfully met its set targets.Upper Kohistan, he added, was spread over high mountainous areas, but 158 mobile teams successfully reached their designated locations.

“We have formed 11 teams specifically for snowbound areas in the district, who successfully accessed the targeted population and completed their task,” Khan said.He further stated that no refusal cases were reported in the district, and residents fully supported the vaccination teams, most of whom had to reach remote areas on foot.

The deputy commissioner emphasised that despite the district being under a severe cold wave, the teams mostly composed of public sector workers swiftly reached their designated areas.
