Lahore Youth Festival to kick off from Nov 7: minister
LAHORE:The upcoming mega event of Lahore Youth Festival 2024 is set to engage the talented youth in a variety of cultural events and healthy sporting activities being organised by the Punjab government from November 7 to 9. This event will definitely create a festive atmosphere in the provincial capital and provide a true entertainment to masses.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Adabi Baithak, Alhamra Mall Road on Monday.
Secretary Higher Education Dr Farrukh Naveed, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Pervez Iqbal, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, DSO Lahore Tanveer Shah and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the press conference, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat said that there is immense talent in our youth and that’s why we are guiding our talented youth towards the right direction as per vision of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz. “Today in Punjab, children are being given milk packs in schools and true progress is being seen everywhere”.
He said that besides sports events, the events like talent fest, stand-up comedy, mind reading, animal tricks, ventriloquism, rapping, circus performances, juggling, acrobatics, instrumental performances, beat boxing, magic performances, folk medley, mime performance. Art exhibition, painting, digital art, sculpture. IT, AI and tech exhibition. Theme song competition and battle of bands in the Lahore Youth Festival.
He said that this kind of events will produce athletes like Arshad Nadeem, Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan. “In the past, Pakistan sports stars including Jahangir Khan, Jan Sher Khan have earned respect for the country at international level”.
Provincial Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that thousands of players will participate in the Lahore Youth Festival. “The opening ceremony of Lahore Youth Festival will be held on November 7 at the Fortress Stadium”.
He said the Lahore Youth Festival is a gift for the talented youth of the province. “The competitions of marathon, fun race, cycling, discus throw, javelin throw, tug-of-war, tent pegging and gymnastics will be held in the Lahore Youth Festival. The students of public and private schools, colleges and universities will participate in Lahore Youth Festival,” he informed.
He said that the cabinet members of Punjab chief minister are always announcing positive activities. “We are quite upbeat that new talent will emerge from these sports programmes. The trials of Lahore Youth Festival events will be held at Punjab Stadium from Oct 12”. After the press conference, both provincial ministers unveiled the logo on the float of Lahore Youth Festival.
