Animal sale banned on other than designated points
LAHORE : The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 on the sale of sacrificial animals on the roads and streets of Lahore.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Home Department, selling of sacrificial animals is not allowed at any place except the 8 livestock markets allocated for selling sacrificial animals in Lahore. He said that the sacrificial animals will be sold only in the 8 designated cattle markets. According to the spokesperson, Section 144 has been implemented which will remain in force until June 20.
Minister inspects Saggian animal sale point
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique paid a surprise visit to the sacrificial animal sale point established by the district administration at Saggian on Sunday to review the arrangements and facilities provided so far.
Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Lahore/Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, Chief Officer MCL Ali Abbas Bukhari, and Assistant Commissioner City Rai Babar accompanied the minister during the visit. The deputy commissioner briefed the minister on the arrangements at the sale point.
Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements made by the metropolitan corporation, the minister directed the deputy commissioner to take action against illegal markets reportedly operating in some locations. He emphasised that the Punjab government’s ban on the sale of animals on roads and streets should be strictly enforced.The minister listened to the complaints of citizens and traders at the Qurbani sale point and issued immediate instructions to the concerned officials for redressal. Speaking on the occasion, Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique reiterated his commitment to providing all possible facilities to animal traders and citizens at the official sale points. He also directed for proper lighting at night and effective security arrangements at the sale point.
He stressed that buying and selling sacrificial animals is a religious ritual and urged the municipal staff at the Qurbani sale points to show good manners and ensure the provision of all possible facilities to citizens with religious zeal. He strictly directed that immediate action be taken on any complaints from traders or buyers.
