KARACHI: A total of 200 sports coaches and fitness instructors in various disciplines are participating in the 5-day sports workshop, titled “Refreshing Coaching Courses”, being organiSed at the National Coaching Centre.
The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has organised the workshop which is arranged on the directives of Secretary IPC, Nadeem Irshad Kiyani and DG, PSB Zahoor Ahmed starting on May 27 and will conclude on May 31. The Director of NCC Imran Yousuf told The News that initially the course was planned for 60 sports coaches and physical instructors, but several people related to the sports fraternity thronged the coaching course, which became difficult for NCC management to manage. Thus, it was decided to organise the workshop in two sessions.
Imran said that the workshop is beneficial for all types of sports discipline coaches including athletics, cricket, hockey, football, swimming, boxing, judo, karate, and cycling. He added that there were around 700 aspirants but 200 were selected and the sole criteria was that they belonged to the professional sports training and coaching.
