Sindh HEC honours vice chancellors

The Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) on Friday organised an iftar-dinner in the honour of the vice chancellors (VCs) of public and private universities across the province.

According to a statement issued by the Sindh HEC, the event signified a momentous occasion in fostering collaboration and camaraderie within the academic community. Besides the VCs of various universities, the event was also graced by diplomats of the United States, Turkiye, Malaysia and Iran.

Those from the US Consulate who attended the event included Public Diplomacy Officer Anamaria Karrels, Public Affairs Officer Lee McManis and Program Management Coordinator (Exchanges) Belal Rizvi.

Turkish Consulate General Cemal Sangu, Director of Iranian School Mahmood Shaikh and Malaysian Vice Consul Nor Azua Sulaili along with her husband also attended the iftar-dinner.

The vice chancellors who attended the event included Prof Saeed Qureshi of the Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof Nusrat Shah of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana, Prof Parveen Munshi of the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, Dr Pirzada Qasim of the Ziauddin University and Millennium Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship Rector Dr Huma Baqai,.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh HEC Chairperson Prof Dr SM Tariq Rafi underscored the need for closer ties between the heads of public and private universities.

British Deputy High Commissioner Martin Dawson lauded the Sindh HEC's efforts in bridging the gap among academics. "To be amongst so many learned people here under one roof is a great feeling really," he remarked.
