I am back in my native village of Nalichak Sirkikhel Serai Naurang, Lakki Marwat for the winter break. I have found the loadshedding here to be indescribably bad. Electricity is not available throughout the night and is only available for one or two hours during the day time. The loadshedding seemingly takes place at random intervals so one ever knows when the power is about to go during the brief periods that it is there, making it hard to charge electronic devices.
Fear pervades the entire area as the police are not patrolling the neighbourhoods after the evening. Thieves and burglars are at large at night and several cases of burglary have occurred in recent days, depriving many poor people of their motorcycles and other personal belongings. Local students are also suffering as their exams are around the corner, while the local hospital is unable to take X-rays in case of medical emergencies. The Pesco authorities are requested to take pity on the area and increase the duration of the power supply so that hardships of the residents are allayed.
