The Young Doctors Association, Sindh, on Friday expressed grief and anger in its meeting over the attempted abduction incident involving renowned orthopaedic consultant Dr Yasir Hussain Khan at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
The doctors had decided that if no action was taken by police within three days on this incident, a complete boycott of OPD services would be observed for three days across Sindh. If still no action was taken, a call for boycotting the operation theater and emergency services might be made.
On December 12th, the doctors expressed concern over the police's reluctance to take action in the incident involving Dr Khan. They emphasised that safeguarding the lives and property of the public was the responsibility of the state, but the Karachi police seemed indifferent to this duty.
Dr Khan was the target of an attempted abduction on December 12th in Quaidabad, Landhi, Karachi, during which he sustained injuries. The incident occurred when he was returning from the hospital to Quaidabad, where he was attacked by six abductors. He was injured in the attempt, but the abductors managed to snatch his cash, mobile phone, and car
before fleeing.
Dr Khan filed an FIR regarding this incident at the Shah Latif police station. Despite the filing of the FIR, no progress had been made in the case.
